Freundeskreis Paul-Hindemith-Gesellschaft

Paul-Hindemith-Gesellschaft in Berlin e.V.

The Paul-Hindemith-Gesellschaft in Berlin e.V. was founded in 1966 as the "Gesellschaft der Freunde der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Berlin e.V." (Society of Friends of the State Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Berlin) by such unforgotten personalities as Maria Ivogün, Boris Blacher, Hans Chemin-Petit, Gottfried von Einem, Hans Scharoun, Hans Heinz Stuckenschmidt and Herbert von Karajan.
The main purpose of the society is to provide financial support to students who are musically and/or dramatically gifted, but who are in a very poor financial position, by granting them scholarships to enable them to pursue their studies or to make it easier for them to do so.
