Alice Samter Kammermusikwettbewerb
The Competition
The Berlin composer Alice Samter bequeathed a substantial fortune to the Berlin University of the Arts in 1999 and 2000. The income from the endowment is intended to support students in the Faculty of Music. This is achieved, on the one hand, through scholarships and, on the other hand, by funding the prize money for this chamber music competition. The Berlin University of the Arts is committed to preserving the legacy of Alice Samter. The inclusion of one of her works in the chamber music competition reflects this commitment. Alice Samter’s body of work includes compositions for a wide variety of ensembles featuring piano, strings, winds, and percussion.
Prof. Konstantin Heidrich serves as the artistic director.
The competition is funded by the investment income from Alice Samter’s bequest, which is held by the Berlin University of the Arts Foundation. The Foundation thanks its supporters for their generous commitment, especially those who have donated their estates.

Terms and Conditions of Participation
Ensembles of all genres consisting of three to a maximum of nine members are eligible to participate, provided that, whenever possible, the majority of members are enrolled at the UdK Berlin or are studying chamber music there. All other ensemble members must be students at another conservatory. The Artistic Director will decide on any exceptions.
