schwärmen

On display here is the group of works entitled "schwärmen" ("to swarm"). We see objects or furniture that imitate the appearance of insects such as ants and beetles and at the same time are reminiscent of architectural structures.

The association of architecture in the form of shelves or tables is a frequent motif in Bella Bram's works. These are references to the interior and exterior space of the human being. However, they cannot be clearly categorized in terms of time; they remain vague in references to common formal elements, but also to the futuristic architecture of the 1970s or maybe they are even more future-oriented pieces? There are objects on the wall that oscillate again between furniture, information surface and display. Polygon-like vases sometimes take up fragile positions "just on the verge of falling”.

Bella Bram often makes references to the animal world. Certain characteristics of insects, structures of their dwellings, but also senses of touch and perception through feelers and legs appear. The snail, for example - which always carries its dwelling with it - appears again and again in Bella Bram's work as a symbolic figure. In their work, Bella Bram often plays with moments of in-between-ness, both on a contextual and formal level. They combines these characteristics with architecture and builds simulations of seemingly living objects.
