Dr.-Ing. Tizian Alkewitz

Kurzvita

Tizian Alkewitz is a post-doctoral researcher. He studied architecture and completed his doctorate entitled Zeit als formgebendes Element – Architektur als integraler Bestandteil im Kontext systemisch-zeitlicher Prozesse at Berlin University of the Arts. His dissertation addresses the need for climate-responsive construction to integrate the factor time as a design parameter in architecture. Case studies, visualized for both scientists of other disciplines and laypeople, demonstrate how the interweaving of traditional knowledge with digital, multimodal simulation techniques promotes innovative approaches to climate-responsive construction. Translating these into a design that adheres to the logic of the place can reduce damage to environmental mediums and increase resilience to climate impacts. This methodology of reciprocal scientific and design-based knowledge generation and communication promotes the understanding of temporal processes and their influence on architectural planning.
