Application period and entrance requirements

Application period

15 January - 15 February 2026 for the winter semester 2026/27

In the coming year 2025 there will be no application and admission procedure for this degree program!

 

Entrance requirements

• Special artistic talent in the areas of Acting, Dance and Voice
• Sufficient knowledge of German (language certificate German A2 for application and language certificate German B2 for enrolment)

Your application step by step

All of the following steps must be taken within the application deadline of the respective degree programme.  It is recommended that you apply as early as possible within the application deadline so that you can clarify any questions that arise with our StudyGuide in good time.

  1. Register and verify yourself (if you have not already done so in the past) in the Campus Management Portal of the UdK Berlin: https://my.udk-berlin.de
     
  2. Log in to the Campus Management Portal (https://my.udk-berlin.de) and submit an application for admission to the desired degree programme there by the application deadline and upload the following formal documents in a PDF file (max. 20 MB) to the application portal during the application process:

    ● A curriculum vitae (CV) in table form with details of previous training and activities
    ● A statement of reasons for the choice of study and career (motivation letter)
    ● A certificate from an ENT doctor and an orthopaedic specialist stating that the applicant's state of health does not pose a threat to the requirements of the training,
    The certificate must not be older than one year.
    If you are unable to submit the certificate(s) by the application deadline, please send an email to heike.cassel_ @intra.udk-berlin.de.
    Please note that both certificates must be submitted no later than the pre-selection, which is expected to begin on April 3, 2024.
    Bank statement as proof of payment of the fee of € 30 for processing the application (in case of transfer from abroad proof of payment) or turnover view (in case of online banking). Other proofs/receipts (such as transfer orders) are not accepted. (More details: see under 3.)
    International applicants must also provide proof of their German language skills: language certificate German A2 for application and language certificate German B2 for enrolment. You can find more information here.

    ● You must enter your programme for the admission procedure directly in the application portal during the application period

    We would like to explicitly point out that only complete applications with all listed documents will be considered in the admission procedure.

Admission procedure

What happens after the application?

The admission procedure consists of the pre-selection and the entrance examination.
As planned, both the pre-selection and the entrance examination are scheduled to take place in on-site presence at UdK Berlin.

Repertoire

The entrance examination usually consists of the following parts:

  •  one musical scene combining singing, acting and/or dancing,
  • one classical acting monologue (up to and including the 19th century) and one modern acting monologue (20th and 21st century),
  • at least three vocal pieces of different character from the fields of: Musical / Rock / Pop / Chanson / Lied (of which at least one piece in German and at least one musical song).
  •  two dance scenes:n:
  1.  Preparation of a choreography from the field of jazz dance sent in advance, which includes a small part for own improvisation and
  2.  an own choreography - to be chosen freely in terms of style and music - which best represents the own strengths.
  • Applicants may choose to include further offerings from the area of show cabaret.

Preselection
Applicants are allowed to choose one piece from their admission programme. Everything else is selected by the admissions committee.

Entrance examination
The applicants selected from the pre-selection will be invited to the second part of the admission procedure (entrance examination).

The entrance examination usually consists of the following parts:

  • Presentation of pieces and scenes from the repertoire prepared for the admission procedure as well as any tasks assigned by the examination commission.
  • Musicality test
    Recognition of simple intervals, differentiation of triads in major and minor, rhythm exercises, sight-singing.
  •  Examination of job-specific aptitudes and abilities on the basis of tasks which the applicant works on alone or also together with others.
  • Individual interviews in which the applicants can comment on the sections and results of the admission procedure as well as on their own motivation and interests.

Admission is only valid for the following winter semester.
