Application without a degree certificate or as a university transfer student

Abitur and other school certificates

You don't have your Abitur or your university entrance qualification yet?

If you do not have a school leaving certificate (e.g. Abitur) at the time of application, please submit a copy of your last school leaving certificate within the application deadlines. In the event of admission, we will require a certified copy of the school leaving certificate for enrolment.

Did you obtain your degree abroad or at an international school in Germany?

University degree

You do not have a university degree (e.g. Bachelor, Absolvent*in, diploma) at the time of application?

If you do not have a first university degree (e.g. Bachelor, Absolvent*in, diploma) at the time of application for a master degree programme, please submit a current transcript of records within the application deadlines. In the case of admission, we will require a certified copy of the university degree certificate for enrolment.

Did you obtain your university degree abroad?

If a transcript of records cannot be issued for your current degree programme, we require a certificate from the university containing the following information:

  -  Name of the student
  -  Course of study and degree objective
  -  When do you expect to finish your studies?
  -  Indication of the standard period of study, preferably supplemented with total credit points
  -  If possible, a list of the coursework and examinations you have already completed.

University transfer students

What is it and what needs to be considered?

Transfer students are students who transfer from one university to another. The universities differentiate whether you want to change within a comparable degree programme (placement in a higher semester) or into another degree programme.

For some degree programmes at the UdK Berlin, we have an extra application procedure for transfer students, e.g. graduates in Fine Arts, BA Design, BA Visual Communication. For this, it may be necessary that a minimum period of study in connection with a minimum number of completed study and examination achievements must be achieved and proven as a prerequisite. You can find more information on the application page of the respective degree programme.
In other degree programmes, you will take part in the classic application procedure, but after enrolment you have the option of having previously completed coursework and examinations recognised and thus shortening your studies.

If you would like to apply to the UdK Berlin as a transfer student, please send us a current transcript of records by the application deadline. On the basis of the information noted there, we can assess whether a placement in a higher subject semester and thus the later recognition of study and examination achievements is possible.

Please note:
During the application process, you will be asked whether you are a university transfer student.
Please only tick yes if you are already studying in a comparable degree programme and wish to continue your studies with us.
If you also want to change your degree programme when you transfer, please tick no.

If, at the time of enrolment at the UdK Berlin, you have already completed coursework and examinations at other universities or in other degree programmes, but have not yet graduated in your previous degree programme, we require a declara-tion of no objection from your previous university with the following information for enrolment:

 -   Name of the student
 -   Degree programme and degree objective
 -   Have all study and examination achievements been positively completed?
 -   Which coursework and examinations have not been passed and how often have they been repeated?
