Seminar SoSe26: Tracing Lesbian Spaces

source: tracing lesbian spaces

In this seminar, we want to examine practices of queer-lesbian space production from the perspectives of different generations. We aim to encourage exchange while also getting to know approaches and tools of archiving. To do this, we will visit places that have existed for a long time, are under acute threat, and speak with initiatives that are creating new spaces. Between these excursions, we will reflect on our impressions as well as our own everyday practices. This engagement takes place in the form of regular get-togethers, where we share observations, discuss, and think things through together. We use physical space as a reference point for our research. Through intergenerational exchange and visits to various archives and locations, we attempt to reactivate forgotten knowledge and knowledge with limited access, and to make it usable in different ways. We will have the opportunity to gain insights into queer archival work in an archiving workshop, and to document our findings with the help of a screen-printing workshop.

The seminar is organised and led by Nelly Schubert, Karla Yumari Royal and Carlota Zoë Carim Maurer.
