On all three days of the Rundgang, a person will be available at the information desk at Hardenbergstraße 33 to provide interpretation into German Sign Language (DGS). They will be happy to assist with questions about finding your way around or organizing your visit, as well as with communication between hearing and deaf people. Guided tours with interpretation into DGS will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. each day.

During the 2026 Rundgang, the Awareness Team and security staff will be available if support is needed or questions arise. On the days of the event, the Awareness Team can be reached by phone as well as via WhatsApp and Signal. The phone number will be published here on July 17.

Questions prior to the Rundgang can be directed to rundgang@udk-berlin.de until Thursday, July 16, 2026.

For safety reasons, animals must remain outside during the event. Exceptions are made for guide dogs, service dogs, rescue dogs, and working dogs. The event organizers will decide on any other exceptions on a case-by-case basis.

You can recognize Awareness Team members by their purple vests with the word “Awareness” on them.

If you feel uncomfortable, observe inappropriate behavior, or need a safe space, please contact the Awareness Team or security personnel. This applies without exception to all locations along the Rundgang. 

The Awareness Team is there to create a non-discriminatory and mindful environment for everyone and to provide concrete support when needed. Awareness Team members will also be available at the entrance to assist you in any potential conflict situations.

During the Rundgang – Open House Days, the degree programs at the Berlin University of the Arts open their studios and stages to the public, offering a glimpse into current projects. On display are artistic projects, designs, experiments, and research initiatives from all fields—ranging from visual arts and design to music, performing arts, and interdisciplinary formats. Visitors are invited to discover both the creative processes and the final results and to engage in conversation with the participants. Please find a few highlights summarized in the event calendar. 

Fire safety assistants will be on site to ensure the event’s safety; they can be identified by their red vests bearing the word “Fire Safety.” Escape and rescue routes are clearly marked in all buildings and posted at central locations within the buildings.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all buildings.

For safety reasons, all visitors are prohibited from bringing glass bottles, other fragile or potentially dangerous items, and weapons (firearms, knives, batons, pepper spray) into the buildings. To reduce our environmental impact, a deposit system is in place on the premises at Hardenbergstraße 33.

 

Fine Arts Guided Tour

• On Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, guided tours will take place at the Hardenbergstraße location between 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
• The meeting point is at the building at Hardenbergstraße 33. 
• No registration is required.
• Students will guide visitors through selected Fine Arts and Architecture classes, offering personal insights into their work. Each tour is tailored to the group.
• We recommend arriving early and allowing for possible wait times at the entrance.

Guided tour for high school students interested in studying architecture

• Saturday, July 18, at 3:00 p.m., meeting point: Café Kubik at Hardenbergstraße 33
• No registration required

In the days leading up to the Rundgang — from July 14–16, 2026 — the JIB Jazz Festival will take place for the first time this year. Over the course of three evenings — each from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.— students will present the work they have developed over the summer semester in approximately 25 ensembles and projects; faculty members will also perform. The musical spectrum ranges from swinging jazz to funk and Latin grooves, modern jazz, free improvisation, and new compositions. The festival will conclude on July 16 with the JIB Big Band. The festival will take place in the Georg-Neumann-Saal and in the studio of the Jazz Institute Berlin at Einsteinufer 43.

The opening hours during the Rundgang —Open House Days—differ from the regular opening hours of the locations.
The following opening hours apply to the locations at Hardenbergstraße 33 and Medienhaus/Grunewaldstraße:

Fri, July 17: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM (last admission) / 10:00 PM (end)

Sat, July 18: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM (last admission) / 10:00 PM (end)

Sun, July 19: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (last admission) / 7:00 p.m. (end)

The university administration has slightly adjusted the opening hours this year. This is due to cost considerations as well as the goal of ensuring the safety of all visitors throughout the event.

Last admission for all guests—including those with wristbands—is at 9:00 PM. The events end on Friday and Saturday at all locations no later than 10:00 PM.

Admission is free at all locations along the tour route during the Open House.

Shops, food and beverage outlets, and bars are operated independently by various vendors and university departments. Cash payments will be accepted at all locations; card payments will be accepted only in exceptional cases.

Photographs will be taken during the event by photographers commissioned by the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). The images will be used for public relations purposes. By entering the event grounds, all visitors agree to this.
 

Members of the press and media may direct their inquiries to the Press and Communication Office.

The Press and Communications Office also manages the UdK Berlin’s main Instagram account. In addition, there are numerous other social media accounts for various degree programs, institutes, and departments at the UdK Berlin, which highlight the university’s diversity throughout the Rundgang.

 

 

Students and faculty members at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) are exhibiting their work at the respective locations of their faculties and degree programs. Highlights of the Rundgang exhibition program can be found in UdK Berlin`s central calender of events. All contact persons for the faculties and centers are listed under Team and Contact on the UdK Berlin website. Given the wide range of offerings, it is unfortunately unavoidable that there will be some overlap in the program.

 

 

The student-run bars and catering services operate on a deposit system. We ask all visitors to sort their trash carefully and dispose of their waste responsibly. Bringing glass bottles is not permitted.

 

To ensure that members of the UdK Berlin community and program participants have access to the buildings at Hardenbergstraße 33 and Grunewaldstraße 2–5 during the Rundgang, they will be granted priority entry before the general public. (This entry policy applies only to these two locations, as there are generally no lines at the other locations.)

We ask all students, faculty, and staff of the UdK Berlin, as well as all program participants, to register early to ensure a smooth entry process. Only those who are registered and can present a wristband will be granted priority entry. A staff or student ID alone does not grant priority access. Click here to register.

Safety & House Rules

The use of professionally trained security personnel is required by law for public events of the scale of the Rundgang. The security team’s responsibilities include managing entry at the Hardenbergstraße 33 and Grunewaldstraße 2–5 locations, as well as ensuring the overall security of the event—including the safety of visitors, exhibited artworks, equipment, and infrastructure—and enforcing the house rules. Damage to property or vandalism can be reported to security personnel or event management at any time. Security personnel wear green vests marked “Security.” This year, Boretti Solutions GmbH has been contracted to provide security for the event.

On-site fire safety contacts can be identified by their red vests bearing the words “Fire Safety.”

The Awareness Team—recognizable by their purple vests—is available during the tour as a point of contact for visitors who feel unwell or need assistance. It helps foster a respectful and discrimination-sensitive environment. The trained team members work confidentially, listen, and act in a way that prioritizes the needs of those affected—meaning they tailor their approach to the individual’s specific needs. In addition to their visible presence on the grounds, they provide support as needed in difficult or stressful situations, working closely with event management and security personnel.

The house rules are posted in a clearly visible location at all venues. 

At the end of the semester, the UdK Berlin Open House showcases the work from the past academic year. To ensure a safe and well-organized event for everyone involved—guests and university members alike—we ask all participants to register, as we do every year, all program items, performances, interventions, and activities scheduled to take place outside the classrooms by July 10, 2026, at rundgang_ @udk-berlin.de. This registration serves to coordinate and align safety and organizational requirements. All contributions will take place in accordance with the applicable regulations of the UdK Berlin and its Code of Conduct.

 

Starting in mid-July, members of the Berlin University of the Arts can pick up a wristband at the ticket counter in the concert hall foyer after registering online using their UdK email address. Registration and a wristband are required for UdK members to receive priority admission during the Rundgang. More information is available here.
