What is "Fit für die Künste"?

Free study orientation and study skills programme for student applicants at risk who wish to apply for a course of study at a German university of art or music. The workshops are categorized into four different areas:

(I) Study orientation & application training – auf Deutsch & in English:
Information & coaching on study courses in the arts as well as design, creative communication and architecture; guidance for application procedures and for preparing portfolios.

(II) Intercultural Study Skills – in English
You can improve your interdisciplinary and intercultural skills for academic and professional purposes.

(III) Empowerment & Resilience – auf Deutsch & in English
Here you find a space to pay attention to your your needs, take care of your ressources and build up your resilience and mental strength.

(IV) German terminology & communication for studying arts & design – auf Deutsch:
We offer German language courses in four artistic fields, starting at B1 level.

All workshops are free of charge. They are funded by the DAAD as part of the INTEGRA Programme 2020-22 by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Who can participate?

  • Applicants and students at universities of art and music with refugee background

  • Enrolled international students at UdK Berlin (Please contact the Intercultural Mentoring team for registration: www.udk-berlin.de/ikm)

What are the requirements?

  • Refugee status or "Duldung"
  • for the specialist language workshops: minimum B1 knowledge of German

Which workshops are offered?

You can combine the workshops according to your own interests and preferences or book them individually. If you are admitted to a degree programme at UdK Berlin you will be credited with ECTS points for your participation as part of the Studium Generale (at least 30 teaching units incl. personal work). The ECTS points are indicated for each workshop. For the events on 13, 14, 25, 26 September and 9 October, 0.5 to 1 ECTS can be awarded depending on participation.

Registration is possible until 1 day before the start of each course. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The workshops are free of charge.
