Launch a Podcast – Real Career Stories by and for International Students
In this 3-day hands-on workshop, you'll work as a team to create, produce, and publish a podcast series that gives a voice to international students navigating the job market. Together, you’ll develop a podcast format, record interviews, and share real-life experiences about job searching, applications, career changes ("Quereinstiege"), and the unique challenges of starting a career abroad. By the end of the workshop, your group will have a fully developed, ready-to-launch podcast series—created collaboratively from concept to publication.
Day 1 — Kick-Off: From Concept to First Recording
On Day 1, you'll get an introduction to podcasting and shape the concept of your group podcast. Together, you'll define your theme, format, and tone—focusing on peer-to-peer interviews with international students about their personal career journeys.
You’ll learn:
How to prepare and record interviews (online and offline)
The right tech setup for good audio quality
Moderation techniques and question design
Podcast formats & storytelling strategies

Homework: Record at least 4 interviews each before the next session.
Day 2 — Post-Production, Jingle & Visual Identity
Now it's time to shape the sound and style of your podcast. As a group, you'll learn how to edit your recordings using Audacity, improve audio quality, and add music or sound effects. You’ll also design the cover art and decide or create a jingle or intro/outro music that reflects your podcast’s identity.
You’ll learn:
Audio post-production basics
Troubleshooting and improving sound quality
Designing cover art as a team
Creating or sourcing royalty-free intro/outro music
Bring your laptop!
Homework: Finalize post-production and export polished MP3s for each episode until next session.
Day 3 — Publishing & Promotion
In the final session, you’ll publish your group podcast online and prepare to share it with your audience. You'll distribute it to major platforms, write compelling show notes, and create a simple marketing plan to launch your series and reach fellow students.
