Omkar Hiremath

Omkar Hiremath is a textile engineer working at the intersection of material science, technical textiles, and textile-based functional systems. His practice focuses on engineering textile structures that integrate additional functionalities particularly in the areas of non-wovens, smart electronic textiles, and performance-driven applications.

With a background in industrial product development, he enjoys material prototyping, characterization, validation of high-performance systems addressing recyclability. His research interests extend to explore sustainable material pathways, such as extracting new fibres from agricultural residues and the development of composite and hybrid electronic textile structures.

He holds an M.Tech in Textile Technology and is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Management of Textile Trade and Technology at Hochschule Niederrhein. As a student research assistant in the Wearable Computing Group, he contributes to STELEC (Sustainable Textile Electronics) with a commitment to full lifecycle sustainability while developing next-generation textile-based electronics.
