Admission stopped!

On January 13, 2026, the Berlin University of the Arts announced the closure of all Master's programs at the Central Institute for Continuing Education and Transfer (ZIWT). We regret to inform you that no new students will be admitted to the Master's program in Sound Studies and Sonic Arts for the 2026/27 winter semester. 

For many years, the ZIWT has offered three continuing education master's programs: Leadership in Digital Innovation, Music Therapy, and our Sound Studies and Sonic Arts program. Due to changes in our university's legal and organizational framework, these programs are now being phased out. The Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) will ensure that all currently enrolled students can complete their studies within a reasonable period of time.

Sound Studies and Sonic Arts läuft als Masterstudiengang aus 

Am Zentralinstitut für Weiterbildung und Transfer der Universität der Künste Berlin bestehen seit vielen Jahren drei weiterbildende Masterstudiengänge: Musiktherapie, Leadership in digitaler Innovation sowie unser Studiengang Sound Studies and Sonic Arts. 

Die UdK Berlin befindet sich aktuell in einem Prozess der strategischen Neuausrichtung, in dem ihre Weiterbildungsangebote strukturell neu geordnet werden. Diese Entwicklung geht einher mit veränderten rechtlichen und organisatorischen Rahmenbedingungen. Insbesondere macht die Anpassung der universitären Strukturen an das novellierte Berliner Hochschulgesetz eine Neuordnung der Weiterbildung erforderlich. 

Vor diesem Hintergrund laufen alle bestehenden weiterbildenden Masterstudiengänge aus. Der Studiengang Sound Studies and Sonic Arts nimmt ab sofort deshalb keine neuen Studierenden mehr auf. Für alle aktuell immatrikulierten Studierenden stellt die UdK Berlin sicher, dass das Studium in einem angemessenen Zeitraum zu Ende studiert werden kann.

Sound Studies and Sonic Arts is being phased out as a master's programme

For many years, the Central Institute for Continuing Education and Transfer at Berlin University of the Arts has offered three continuing education master's programmes: Music Therapy, Leadership in Digital Innovation, and our Sound Studies and Sonic Arts programme. 

The Berlin University of the Arts is currently undergoing a process of strategic realignment, in which its continuing education programmes are being structurally reorganised. This development goes hand in hand with changes in the legal and organisational framework. In particular, the adaptation of university structures to the amended Berlin Higher Education Act necessitates a reorganisation of continuing education. 

Against this background, all existing continuing education master's programmes are being phased out. The Sound Studies and Sonic Arts programme is therefore no longer accepting new students with immediate effect. The Berlin University of the Arts will ensure that all currently enrolled students can complete their studies within a reasonable period of time.
