Mgqibelo African Gallery: A Paradigm Shift in Cultural Representation and Collaboration
This lecture will explore how Mgqibelo African Gallery embodies a paradigm shift in the way that it displays African culture and heritage using interdisciplinary stories that honour artefacts preserved, represented, and shared on the digital platform. Key themes to be discussed include reassessing colonial narratives, addressing emotional injustice through virtual museums, exploring African futurism, fostering interactive learning, and building collaborative bridges between colonial museums and communities of artefact origin.
