Veritas Ventriloquist
This performance is the culmination of an artistic research project which investigated historical correlations between gender and technical media. These media include the foot pedal, sewing machine and vocal synthesisers, which were predominantly operated by women in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. By re-appropriating and controlling aspects of these different technologies with her body on stage, Sebes creates a dynamic woman-machine interface which questions and re-forges the possible contemporary uses and meanings of these tools.
