25th International RIdIM Conference 2026 – Tagung
From September 3 to 5, 2026, the Berlin University of the Arts will host the 25th International Conference of the Association RIdIM. Scholars and experts from around the world are expected to attend this three-day event under the title „Music and the Moving Image: The Moving Image in Music“.
The focus will be on exploring the relationship between music and the moving image. The conference will examine aesthetic, cultural, historical, and technological perspectives on this relationship, as well as the interactions between visual media and musical practices.
The annual conferences of the RIdIM Society provide an international forum for scholarly exchange on music, visual media, and their shared cultural, historical, and technical contexts. They are held alternately each year in Europe and other parts of the world. With Berlin as this year’s host city, the choice is significant in several respects: The conference returns to Germany for the first time since 1991; at the same time, its location in Berlin ties in with the city’s rich film history and takes place at the Berlin University of the Arts, one of Europe’s most distinguished art universities.
The organizers are:
- Prof. Dr. Antonio Baldassarre, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, President of the RIdIM Society
- Dr. Dorothea Hilzinger, Berlin University of the Arts
- Prof. Dr. Christine Hoppe, Berlin University of the Arts
- Dr. Timur Sijaric, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts
