LOOPS SESSIONS: Michelle-Marie Letelier – Veranstaltungsreihe

Michelle-Marie Letelier, "The Bone"

LOOPS is an event series that explores current questions facing our society at the intersection of art, science and technology in a unique discursive format. Afterwards, the Bar provides a space for exchange between guests, researchers, students and the public. The accompanying LOOPS SESSIONS extend the series with different formats such as workshops, performances and experimental formats.

For this LOOPS SESSION we are joined by Michelle-Marie Letelier, an artist and researcher based in Berlin, who will introduce us to her practice. There will be a screening of her work "The Bone", both on screen and in VR, an interactive experience in virtual reality inside the skull of a wild salmon, addressing ethical and ecological issues related to salmon farming, domestication and coexistence with this species, from a non-anthropocentric, eco-philosophical and indigenous perspective.

Her multimedia installations, photographs, videos, drawings and objects embrace orchestrated transformations of natural resources, alongside extensive wide-ranging, interdisciplinary research into the landscapes where their exploitation and speculation take place. Through her work, she places together different epochs, regions and societies, examining political-economic, historical and cultural aspects.

Her work has been shown internationally in biennials, galleries, museums and institutions, among others: KBH.G (Basel); Tabakalera (San Sebastián); OrGallery (Vancouver); Kunstmuseum Bonn; Villa Romana (Florence); Stanislavsky Electrotheatre (Moscow); Gropius-Bau (Berlin) and many more.

The event takes place in our studio and is open to all. A livestream will be available.
