Assignment for the portfolio for the winter semester 2026/27 - ‘Space’
The theme of ‘space’ should be explored using artistic and visual means. Create approximately 20 original works for your portfolio.
Your work should demonstrate your engagement with the multi-layered nature and complexity of spaces. What fascinates you about spaces in terms of poetry, narration, atmosphere, light, dimension, construction and/or dramaturgy?
Use a variety of drawing techniques. You may also explore the theme using photographic, performative, sculptural, spatial installation or film techniques. In this case, please include photographic documentation. (Please do not submit DVDs or links).
The form of presentation of the submitted works should reveal the potential for an independent visual language as well as the creation and comprehension of artistic concepts. An experimental variety of visual means is desirable.
University transfer students / applications for a higher semester:
Applicants who are already studying architecture at another university should supplement their portfolio with up to 3 design projects from their previous studies.

The admission procedure consists of a preselection and an entrance examination.
Pre-selection is based on a submitted artistic portfolio; selected applicants will then take an entrance examination.

Entrance examination
The selected applicants will receive more detailed information on the entrance examination following the pre-selection in good time by e-mail. The entrance examination takes place on site.
