Application period

05 February till 05 March for the winter semester

    • finished 4-year B.A. Architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts or a degree from a comparable study course
      • Applicants who have finished a 3-year B.A. in Architecture (180 Credit Points) will have to attend a 2-semester adjustment course in case they get accepted.
      • 180 CP: Within these 2 semesters the students will have to gain 60 CP, 40 from successfully finishing two design projects of the B.A. study programme
      • 210 CP: Within these 1 semester the students will have to gain 30 CP, 20 from successfully finishing one design projects of the B.A. study programme
    • office internship in an architecture, planning or construction management office
    • artistic talent
    • german language skills C1 according to CEFR
    • Standard period of study: 4 semesters, 120 credit points
    • Degree: Master of Arts (MA)

All of the steps listed below must be completed within the application period for the respective study programme. We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible within the application period so that you can clarify any questions that may arise with our StudyGuide in good time.

  • Register and verify your identity (if you have not already done so) on the UdK Berlin application portal: https://my.udk-berlin.de

     

  • Fee per application: EUR 40.00 (plus fees for international transfers)

  • During the application process, you will be asked to submit formal documents. Please prepare these as individual PDF files (max. 5 MB each).

    Formal documents:

    • Curriculum vitae with details of previous professional and practical experience
    • University degree certificate
    • Transcript of records for the BA degree
    • Preliminary examination document (VPD) from uni-assist, if applicable (see FAQs)
    • Proof of German language proficiency at C1 level according to CEFR for international applicants (see FAQs)
      • Application also possible with German B2
    • Proof of payment of application fees
    • Proof of internship
      • Minimum 4.5 months, 720 hours
      • 40% planning work, 20% office organisation, 10% execution, 30% freely selectable
      • In an architecture, planning or construction management office
  • Log in to the application portal (https://my.udk-berlin.de) and submit an application for admission to your desired study programme within the application period and upload the formal documents.

     

Admissions procedure

What happens after the application?

The admission procedure consists of a preselection and the entrance examination.

The preselection is based on a submitted artistic portfolio.

The creative works must be uploaded to the Bemus platform after the appliction deadline.

The invitation to the entrance examination will also be sent by e-mail, approx. end of May. The exam is expected to take place on site in June.
