At the centre of this multimedia work are the young women on the streets of Accra, Ghana’s capital, who make a living by selling small plastic bags of purified drinking water. Taking as a point of departure the corporeal and auditive dimensions by which they peddle their produce, usually by means of a characteristic chant that extols the ‘purity’ of their water, this work engages the intimate relationship between female bodies and bodies of water, taking a prismatic look at the complex intertwining of female livelihood creation and environmental impact at different scales.
