Your Project Management Compass 1 - Research, Concept Development & Project Mapping

Your Project Management Compass is a two-part intensive workshop designed for students who want to connect artistic production methods with professional project management and visually traceable project development.

Structured across two weekends (Part I & Part II), the workshop supports participants in transforming an artistic idea into a well-researched, clearly structured, and visually understandable project proposal. The course combines creative intuition with professional planning tools, enabling students to develop projects that are both artistically compelling and realistically executable.

The workshop places a strong emphasis on empowerment, economic thinking, sustainable collaboration, and transparent planning processes. Participants will develop a personal Project Management Compass — a practical and intuitive framework that helps them navigate artistic work with clarity, sovereignty, and confidence in academic, cultural, and professional contexts.

Workshop Structure

Part I — Research, Concept Development & Project Mapping

The first weekend focuses on research, orientation, and conceptual foundations.

Participants will learn how to:

  • identify and formulate a relevant artistic or cultural project idea,

  • conduct contextual and visual research,

  • analyze references, target groups, partners, and production conditions,

  • define the core intention, impact, and feasibility of a project,

  • develop a project sketch (Projektskizze) that combines text, research findings, and visual planning elements,

  • create the first version of a visually traceable planning process, using timelines, process maps, mood boards, sketches, flowcharts, or production diagrams.

By the end of Part I, each participant will have produced:

  • a research dossier,

  • a concept statement,

  • a preliminary project sketch,

  • and an initial visual project roadmap that documents the development process in an understandable and communicable way
