Semester topic: Sound <> Systems
"Systems" relating to "Sound" assume many forms:
Amplification setups and performer collectives, as in the sound systems in Caribbean cultures and their diasporas; synthesizer setups, in analog and digital modular varieties; machines that generate and play music with some degree of autonomy; concepts for constructing musical materials to be played; concepts for improvising with sound and systems, and many others.
Contemporary (neo-)cybernetics offers useful tools to discuss and understand existing such systems, and create, construct, improvise and experiment with our own ideas on sound systems.
