Artistic Research and Experimental Practices. Situated Knowledge in Art, Technology and Science

This seminar explores artistic research as an experimental practice that moves across disciplines and forms of knowledge. Rather than treating art as an isolated field, the course approaches artistic practice as a site where different epistemologies intersect, including science, technology, ecological thinking, speculative fiction, and situated cultural knowledge.

Drawing on the pedagogical and research methodologies developed through the practice ofInterspecifics, the seminar examines how artists construct experimental frameworks that connect artistic production with scientific inquiry, environmental observation, and technological experimentation.

Particular attention is given to situated knowledge, acknowledging that artistic research often emerges from specific cultural, geographic, and political contexts. Students will examine how artists develop methods that combine intuition, technical experimentation, and critical reflection to generate new forms of knowledge
