This artistic research explores growing and cooking as practices for relating with technology. It
approaches this relation as a set of material conditions that must be maintained, adapted, and
transformed. In the crystal domain, familiar processes are reversed: unlike the cultivation of
crops, where sprouts grow from seeds and are cooked as ripe fruit, crystals are cooked first and
then spread by absorbing their surroundings. Growing is a practice of repetition, waiting, and
regulation: a way of staying with a process whose purpose and meaning shift over time.
Cooking is a form of relation, gathering ingredients, bodies, gestures, and conditions into a
shared process. Listening requires presence and a compromise with one’s own desires, limits,
and contradictions. Saline catharsis is a feedback system grown from piezoelectric salt,
developed through the practices of growing, cooking, and listening. It is a continuous negotiation
of control with a responsive, fragile and lifeless system.
