Still, Reverie offers a surrender to a landscape of reverence and the sublime, one that defies language in its haunting beauty, and the quiet, otherworldly sense it holds—something seemingly eternal, though we know it is fragile and fleeting. Rather than centering on the familiar narratives of melting ice and environmental catastrophe, Still, Reverie offers a more contemplative reflection—one that honors the Arctic not through urgency or alarm, but through awe. As shipmate, artist, and researcher Em Freeman stated, “People will act to protect what they love-in order to love something, there first needs to be a connection. Our role as artists is to try to create this connection, in many different ways to as many people as possible.”
