The idea of this class is to examine the art school as an institution. Because it lies near at hand, we will examine the UdK in all its aspects, from the material to the economic, from the historic to the ritualistic. The goal is to collectively construct a complete portrait of an institution. This is an advanced seminar, and student submissions will be expected to be at a publishable level.

Stefan Neuner Studium der Kunstgeschichte und Musikwissenschaft an der Universität Wien. 1999-2005 Wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl für neuere und neueste Kunstgeschichte der Universität Wien. 2005-2010 Wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Kunsthistorischen Institut der Universität Zürich. 2007-2011 daneben wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Theorie der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Zürich. 2009-2010 daneben auch wissenschaftlicher Assistent (ERC-Assistent) am Lehrstuhl für Kunstgeschichte der Neuzeit am Kunsthistorischen Institut der Universität Zürich. April-September 2009 sowie September-Dezember 2010 Postdoc-Stipendiat am Kunsthistorischen Institut in Florenz/Max-Planck-Institut. Seit 2010 assoziierter Wissenschaftler des deutschen Studienzentrums in Venedig. 2011-2017 Postdoc-Stipendiat bei eikones – NFS Bildkritik an der Universität Basel. Seit Oktober 2017 Professor für Kunstgeschichte, Kunstwissenschaft und Kunsttheorie an der Universität der Künste Berlin.

Adam Jasper Smith writes about art and architecture. He is a regular contributor to Artforum and Cabinet magazines. He has taught at the University of Technology Sydney, and the ETH Zürich. He recently edited the book House Tour for the Swiss contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale.
