Visual Anthropology:
Documentation, Dissemination, and Collaboration in Ethnological Museums
on 18.06.2026
This presentation explores the practice of visual anthropology within the Ethnological Museum of Berlin’s recent transcultural projects, focusing on documentation, dissemination, and collaborative practices. Drawing on examples from audiovisual production, ethnographic fi lmmaking, and museum-based projects, participants will be guided to examine how visual media can support research, public engagement, and transcultural dialogue.
Particular attention will be given to the ethical and methodological challenges of documenting and representing communities, co-creating knowledge, and communicating anthropological perspectives within contemporary museum practices.
