The Economy for the Common Good - an economic model for climate protection
The economic model of the Economy for the Common Good (ECG), in contrast to capitalism, does not build on the pursuit of profit and competition, but on the increase of the common good and cooperation: The more socially responsible, ecologically sustainable, solidaric and democratic companies behave, the more advantages they get: from public purchasing via loans and taxes to - then ethical instead of "free" - world trade. Common good product, common good balance sheet and ecological human rights: The protection of the global climate and biodiversity is inherent in the theoretical model, the rules of the game and the practice of the Economy for the Common Good. In the ECG, the market laws are aligned with the basic democratic values and the requirements of planetary boundaries.

Christian Felber is a book author, university professor and freelance dancer in Vienna. He is the initiator of the project Bank for the Common Good and the Economy for the Common Good movement. Several bestsellers, most recently “Ethical World Trade”, “The Economy for the Common Good” and “This is not economy: Call for a revolution in economics”. "Money. The new rules of the game” was awarded the Business Book of the Year 2014, the “Economy for the Common Good” 2017 with the ZEIT Wissen Prize. From 2008 to 2017 lecturer at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, since 2019 he has been an Affiliate Scholar at the IASS Potsdam.


Die Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie - ein Wirtschaftsmodell für den Klimaschutz
Das Wirtschaftsmodell der Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie baut, im Unterschied zum Kapitalismus, nicht auf Gewinnstreben und Konkurrenz, sondern auf Gemeinwohl-Mehrung und Kooperation: Je sozial verantwortlicher, ökologisch nachhaltiger, solidarischer und demokratischer Unternehmen sich verhalten, desto mehr Vorteile erhalten sie: vom öffentlichen Einkauf über Kredite und Steuern bis zum – dann ethischen statt „freien“ – Welthandel. Gemeinwohl-Produkt, Gemeinwohl-Bilanz und ökologische Menschenrechte: Der Schutz des Weltklimas und der Biodiversität ist immanent im Theoriemodell, den Spielregeln und der Praxis der Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie enthalten. In der GWÖ stimmen die Marktgesetze mit den demokratischen Grundwerten und den Erfordernissen der planetaren Grenzen überein.

Christian Felber ist Buchautor, Hochschullehrer und freier Tänzer in Wien. Er ist Initiator des Projekts Bank für Gemeinwohl und der Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie. Mehrere Bestseller, zuletzt „Ethischer Welthandel“, „Die Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie“ und „This is not economy: Aufruf zur Revolution der Wirtschaftswissenschaft“. „Geld. Die neuen Spielregeln“ wurde als Wirtschaftsbuch des Jahres 2014 ausgezeichnet, die „Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie“ 2017 mit dem ZEIT-Wissen Preis.
