In this workshop by Federico Zurani, participants will explore the interactive and immersive archive. In VR, the interactive archive becomes an ever-changing environment that can be highly personalized through the use of datasets in Unreal engine. The workshop begins by taking participants through an example of an immersive archive of paintings that changes based on selected criteria, such as time period or style. After that participants will develop personalized datasets and corresponding virtual exhibitions or archives. The workshop invites artists and students to join, who want to create visual exhibitions, explore the topics of datasets and game engines, as well as, working with an easy virtual reality tool to create, for instance, scenography and simple customizable widget control.

A basic understanding of 3D programs, such as Unreal Engine 5 is necessary, therefore if you have no experience at all but are highly motivated please check out the following tutorial: https://dev.epicgames.com/community/learning/courses/ZpX/your-first-hour-in-unreal-engine-5/E7L/introduction-to-your-first-hour-in-unreal-engine-5

It is possible to reserve a gaming laptop for this workshop – please indicate if you will need one in your workshop registration. Else make sure to bring in your own computer with Unreal 5.2 installed.
