20 December till 20 January for the summer semester
20  May till 20 June for the winter semester

    • University degree in the graduate programme ‘Art and Media Absolvetn*in’ or a comparable degree at Master's level
      • MA grade: ‘with special artistic achievement’ or ‘very good’
    • German or English language skills B2 according to CEFR
    • duration of study: 2 semesters
    • Degree: Meisterschüler*in (MS)

Your application – step by step

All of the steps listed below must be completed within the application period for the respective study programme. We recommend that you submit your application as early as possible within the application period so that you can clarify any questions that may arise with our StudyGuide in good time.

  • Register and verify your identity (if you have not already done so) on the UdK Berlin application portal: https://my.udk-berlin.de

     

  • Fee per application: EUR 30.00 (plus fees for international transfers)

    Proof of payment: bank statement or transfer confirmation with value date

  • During the application process, you will be asked to submit formal documents. Please prepare these as individual PDF files (max. 5 MB each).

    Formal documents:

    • Curriculum vitae 
    • University degree certificate (MA)
      • within the standard period of study 
        • if applicable, justification if the degree was completed after the standard period of study
      • MA grade: ‘with particular artistic honours’ or ‘very good’
    • Transcript of records for the MA degree
    • Preliminary examination document (VPD) from uni-assist, if applicable (see FAQs)
    • Proof of German language proficiency at B2 level or English language proficiency at B2 level according to CEFR for international applicants (see FAQs)
      • Application also possible with German B1 or English B1
    • Proof of payment of application fees
    • Confirmation of mentoring by a professor from the Art and Media programme at the Berlin University of the Arts
    • Written description of the project
      • ​​​​​​​Initial draft and work samples
      • Implementation schedule
      • The project must not be identical to the final thesis of the previous degree programme.
  • Log in to the application portal (https://my.udk-berlin.de) and submit an application for admission to your desired study programme within the application period and upload the formal documents.

Further procedure

Applicants* who participate in the procedure will receive an appointment for the presentation of the "Meisterschüler*innen"  project by e-mail at the beginning of February for admissions to the summer semester or at the beginning of July for admissions to the winter semester. Results and the corresponding notification will be sent to you approx. 1-2 weeks after participation in the admission interview.
