The studio orchestra of the Berlin University of the Arts is composed of selected students majoring in orchestral instruments. These young musicians typically also play in the Berlin University of the Arts Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble works on a project basis, primarily as an orchestra for students majoring in conducting at the university. It is also used for recordings of new works by the university’s composition students, for recordings with sound engineering students, or for chamber music performances.

“In the studio orchestra, I can gain intensive experience working with conductors on specific days throughout the semester. By observing how the faculty members work with the students, I learn a lot about the interaction between the orchestra and the conductor, which helps me refine and improve my own playing in the orchestra!”
