In Caporciano, as in many other European rural municipalities, more and more houses remain uninhabited. What can we learn from the countryside, its cultural history and its specific vernacular building techniques? „Retelling the rural“ is a project from the architecture faculty at the university of fine arts Berlin. In October 2021, its students visited Caporciano and its surroundings, got to know its culture and inhabitants, as well as its current developments and its past. Based on this situational approach, the group worked on several projects proposing new interpretations of what already exists. The students together with the municipality of Caporciano invite the inhabitants to a week of workshops and exhibitions. Events will take place throughout the village, using architectural and artistic means to tell the inhabitants visions of a possible future.
