The project presents an inquiry into the potential of script-based computational techniques in
the early architectural design process. Based on open source software for building performance simulation, the approach aims at supporting early design with performance information towards the design of innovative sustainable buildings. By employing and developing simple technical solutions for constructions and combining passive building components, fundamental physical principles are to be used for the creation of high quality built environments. Focus is put on the study of effects and interdependencies of building components utilizing passive strategies, contributing to performance as well as architectural value. In parallel a set of design tools is developed regarding the question, how relevant design parameters can be identified, visualized and utilized for a specific design task, and how a simulation driven parametric design approach can be made more feasible and applicable current building design practice.
