Neue Formen des Forschens - Fungi Workshop / Pilze und die Biotechnologie der Zukunft

In einem Workshop des Biologen Alessandro Volpato lernen die Teilnehmer im Labor vegane Materialien aus Pilzen zu züchten. Ziel ist es, klimaneutrale, künstlerische Strategien zu erpoben.
Pilze / Fungi dienen zur Kultivierung vom Lebensmittel, Herstellung von Baumaterialien, Einrichtungen, Textilien, Verpackungsmaterial, Farbstoffen, Chemikalien, Kunstwerken und zur Erzeugung von Medikamenten. Die Art der Anwendungen in der Mycologie sind vielfältig, und die Ihre Erforschung erfährt in Zeiten des Klimawandels eine besondere Bedeutung um in Zukunft Kunststoffmaterialien zu ersetzen.
TOP Lab * begann im Frühling 2019 einen Pilzkultivierung- und Pilzmaterialienherstellungs- Kurs anzubieten: “Mind the Fungi”, ein Bürgerwissenschafts Projekt des Instituts für Biotechnologie der TU Berlin (angewandte molekulare Mikrobiologie) und dem Art Laboratory Berlin.
Ziel des Seminares ist es, Teilnehmer in den Forschungsprozess einzubeziehen, und die Herstellung von Pilzmaterialien für praktische Anwendungen und Künstlerische Zwecke zu erforschen.

Fungi Workshop
Alessandro Volpato
In a workshop by biologist Alessandro Volpato, participants learn how to grow vegan materials from fungi in the laboratory. The aim is to try out climate-neutral, artistic strategies.
Mushrooms are cultivated to produce food, construction materials, furniture, textiles, packaging materials, dyeing pigments, chemicals, artworks and are studied as medicinal substances producers. The variety in use cases makes of mycology a field of studies with the potential of proposing extraordinary ideas.
TOP Lab started to host a mushroom cultivation and mycofabrication courses from Spring 2019 within “Mind the Fungi”, a Citizen Science project of Art Laboratory Berlin and the TU Berlin Institute for Biotechnology (applied molecular microbiology).
Goal of the seminar is to involve participants in the research process, by teaching them to cultivate mushrooms and produce fungal materials for practical applications or artistic purposes. Once trained, we encourage participants to keep experimenting.
