DE:Um zum Masterstudium der Designprogramme 2026/2027 zugelassen zu werden, muss das Auswahlverfahren bestanden werden.
Die Frist zur Bewerbung läuft vom 1. März bis 1. April 2026.
Das daran ansschließende dreistufige Bewerbungsverfahren besteht aus: formaler Prüfung, Sichtung der künstlerischen Bewerbung und dem Auswahlgespräch. Das digitale Antragsverfahren wird am 1. April 2026, 23:59 Uhr (MEZ) deaktiviert.
1. Man kann sich ab den 02.03.2026 HIER registrieren. Die Bewerbungsnummer wird bei der Registrierung vergeben und ist für die digitale Einreichung der formalen und künstlerischen Dokumente nötig. Am Besten früh genug registrieren, damit man rechtzeitig auf die Bewerbungsformulare zugreifen kann!
2. Nach der Registrierung muss man einen Online-Zulassungantrag erstellen. Die formalen Unterlagen müssen als PDF (20 MB) hochgeladen werden. Für die Bewerbung muss eine Bewerbungsgebühr von € 40,00 bezahlt werden. Infos zu den formalen Unterlagen finden sich HIER. Wir bitten darum, sicher zu gehen, dass die Unterlagen rechtzeitig (bis spätestens 1. April 2026, 23:59 Uhr (MEZ)) hochgeladen werden, ansonsten ist die Bewerbung ungültig.
3. Vom 1 März bis zum 1. April 2026 muss die künstlerische Bewerbung über DIESEN LINK eingereicht werden. Für das künstlerische Auswahlverfahren bitten wir folgende Unterlagen einzureichen:
KÜNSTLERISCHE BEWERBUNGSUNTERLAGEN:
• PDF Portfolio, welches eigene gestalterische oder theoretische Projekte beinhaltet, audiovisuelle Arbeitsproben können als Hyperlinks eingebunden werden (Querformat, max. 20 Seiten, 20 MB)
• PDF Lebenslauf, mit allen Stationen der künstlerischen und gestalterischen Ausbildung, inklusive maximal eines Homepage Links + Email Adresse. Bitte um Erwähnung ob der BA mit 180, 210 oder 240 ECTS abgeschlossen wurde (max. 1 Seite, A4, 1MB)
• PDF Exposé, ein ausführliches Motivationsschreiben, welches die persönlichen Ziele und Interessen im Design erklärt, und eine Beschreibung und Begründung des selbst gewählten MA-Themas beinhaltet (250 bis max. 500 Worte, 2MB)
• MP4 Video, mit kurzer persönlicher Vorstellung und Motivation (max. 1 min, 100MB)
– Bei der Erfüllung der formalen und inhaltlichen Kriterien wird man zu einem digitalen Auswahlgespräch mit der Masterkommission eingeladen; diese finden vom 20. bis einschließlich 22.Mai 2026 statt.
– Es wird beabsichtigt eine Woche nach dem Auswahlgespräch informell die Aufnahme zu bestätigen und es erfolgt dann eine Einladung zur Projektbörse und/oder zum Rundgang im Juli. Diese Veranstaltungen informieren und bereiten auf den MA vor.
FORMALE BEWERBUNGSUNTERLAGEN:
folgende formalen Unterlagen sind einzureichen:
• Tabellarischer Lebenslauf
• Nachweis des Hochschulabschlusses. Sofern im Zeugnis kein Hinweis über die erbrachten Leistungspunkte enthalten ist, reicht man eine gesonderte Bescheinigung der Hochschule ein Transcript of Records (Leistungsübersicht) ein.
• Bewerber*innen, die ihr Bachelorstudium zum Zeitpunkt der Bewerbung noch nicht abgeschlossen haben, reichen bitte ein aktuelles Transcript of Records (Leitungsübersicht) ein, sowie Angaben zur Höhe der nach dem Studienabschluss erworbenen ECTS. Der Hochschulabschluss muss dann spätestens zur Immatrikulation vorliegen.
• Kontoauszug oder Umsatzansicht über eine Gebühr in Höhe von 40,00 EUR für die Bearbeitung der Bewerbung. Andere Nachweise (wie z.B. Überweisungsaufträge) werden nicht akzeptiert! Mehr Info ist HIER zu finden
Internationale Bewerber*innen fügen bitte noch folgende Dokumente hinzu:
• Ausländische Hochschulabschlüsse müssen vor der Bewerbung an der UdK Berlin bei uni-assist zur Bewertung eingereicht werden. Die Vorprüfungsdokumentation (VPD) ist den Bewerbungsunterlagen beizufügen. Weitere Informationen dazu findest Du HIER
• Bewerber*innen aus der VR China und Vietnam wenden sich für die Zeugnisbewertung frühzeitig vor der Bewerbung an die Akademische Prüfstelle APS, die der Deutschen Botschaft angeschlossen ist. Mehr Info dazu findest Du HIER
• Ausländische Studienbewerber*innen müssen außerdem deutsche Sprachkenntnisse nachweisen:
– Zur Bewerbung: Sprachnachweis entsprechend der abgeschlossenen Qualifikationsstufe B2
– Zur Immatrikulation: Sprachnachweis entsprechend der abgeschlossenen Qualifikationsstufe C1

EN: UdK’s Master in Design offers one application procedure and two pathways:
MA-fashion design or MA-product design.
**In your online application you have to choose one of the two.
• Both want to raise critical and innovative designers who explore current and future challenges in their field and able to take a lead in it. The aim is to grow the ability to link fields of theory and of practice in project work in multi faceted and targeted ways, through the critical discourse of the Master program.
• Both Master’s programs offer a full-time one-year program in German (Mid October to end September). Depending on the lecturers, individual discussions and explanatory summaries in English are possible. The theory seminars are offered exclusively in German. In agreement with the lecturers, semester papers in their field can also be written in English, but please check if you have to hand in a German language cerificate when you apply!
• Both Master programs draw upon the artistic and scientific abilities that have been gained during a 4-year B.A. study programme with 240 ECTS. For Students that have graduated from a BA with 180 or 210 ECTS an adaptation program is offered within the BA program.
To be admitted to the Master in Design programs 2026/2027 you must pass a selection procedure. The application period runs from March 2nd to April 1st 2026.
The subsequent three-stage application process consists of a formal examination, viewing of the artistic application and the selection interview. The digital application procedure will be deactivated on 1 April 2026, 23:59 (MEZ) pm.
1. From 01.03.2026 you can register HERE and you will get your applicant-number via the Immatrikulations- und Prüfungsamt (IPA). This applicant-number is needed for the submission of your formal and artistic documents.
Please register early enough so that you can access the application forms in good time!
2. After registration, you must create an online application for admission. The formal documents have to be uploaded as PDF (20 MB). An application fee of € 40,00 has to be paid, info HERE. Please make sure that all formal documents are uploaded in time (by April 1 at the latest), otherwise the application is invalid.
3. From March 2cnd till April 1st 2026 you have to submit your artistic documents online via THIS LINK. For the artistic selection process we ask to submit the following documents:
ARTISTIC APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
• PDF Portfolio, that conveys your own creative or theoretical work, audiovisual work samples can be integrated as hyperlinks (oblong, max 20 pages, 20Mb)
• PDF Curriculum Vitae, with all stages of the artistic and creative training, max one website link + email address and mention if you start the MA with 180, 210 or 240 ECTS (max 1 A4, 1MB)
• PDF Exposé, an indepth motivation letter describing your goals and interest in design, including the topic which you would like to explore in your MA and reason to do so (250 to max 500 words, 2MB)
• MP4 Video, which contains a short motivation and personal introduction of yourself (max 1 min, 100MB)
– If the formal and content criteria are met, you will be invited to an online interview with the master’s committee on 20, 21, 22 of May, 2026.
– We intend to confirm the admission informally soon after the interview, and we invite you to our ‘Projektbörse’ and/or ‘Rundgang’ in July, for info and preparation for your MA.
FORMAL APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:
the following formal documents must be submitted:
• a detailed CV in tabular form
• certificate of university graduation, foreign certificates have to be handed in as certified translation (German or English) In case the certificate does not state the exact number of ECTS gained throughout the studies, please attach a relevant statement from the school/university (Transcript of Records)
• Applicants who have not yet completed their bachelor’s degree at the time of application, please submit a current Transcript of Records plus info on the total amount of ECTS received after graduation. The university degree must then be available at the time of enrollment at the latest
• Bank statement documenting payment of €40 application fee. The fee will not be refunded if applicants withdraw from the application process. Detailed info can be found HERE
International applicants, please add the following documents:
Foreign university degrees must be recognized by uni-assist before the application at UdK Berlin. The uni-assist certificate („Vorprüfungsdokumentation/VPD“) has to be submitted together with the complete application documents. Detailed information can be found HERE
• Applicants from the People’s Republic of China and Vietnam have to contact the Academic Evaluation Center (APS) well in advance, which is affiliated with the German Embassy. More info can be found HERE
• Foreign applicants must also provide proof of German language skills:
– at the time of application: proof of linguistic ability equivalent to level B2
– at the time of matriculation: proof of linguistic ability equivalent to level C1
