No hair on the head, but all the more on the rest of the body.

The interdisciplinary exhibition portrays the topic of hair from an intersectional perspective as Black women in Germany. Central issues are the liberation from capitalist structures, ideals of beauty and stigmatization associated with hair on Black and female bodies.

The protagonists of this exhibition reflect on the role that their hair plays in their identity and at the same time reshape the beauty ideals of the mainstream pop industry.

We ask ourselves what we need to feel safe, comfortable and beautiful in a society characterized by racism.

Our stories are about self-care, sisterhood, belonging and community.
Our stories are resistance.
Resistance to an oppressive system that aims to keep us small and isolated.
Our resistance is joy and love that we share with ourselves and our communities.

Our resistance will remain!

Der interdisziplinäre Ansatz hat Besucher*innen auf verschiedene Art und Weiseästhetisch stimuliert und somit die Thematik zugänglich und greifbar gemacht. Besucher*innen mit verschiedenen kulturellen Hintergründen und Positionierungen konnten sich, ausgehend von ihren individuellen Geschichten, mit der Thematik verbinden. So kamen Gespräche über strukturellen Rassismus, Identität, genetisch bedingten Haarausfall und die Stigmatisierung dessen durch gesellschaftliche Schönheitsideale, über die Prozesse von Frauen mit Krebsdiagnose und über die Opfer von sexuellem Missbrauch und der damit zusammenhängenden Beziehung zum Körper, Weiblichkeit und auch der Rasur der Kopfhaare zustande. Im Ausgleich dazu hat das Spiel „Guess the hair“ verschiedene Menschen zusammengebracht, neue Perspektiven eröffnet und vor allem Freunde bereitet.
